How Frodingham Infant School improved safety and efficiency with Bodet Time’s lockdown solution

Frodingham Infant School in Scunthorpe has around 180 pupils aged three to seven. The senior leadership team sought an effective system to put the school into lockdown.

What was the problem you wanted to solve?
The staff faced a challenge in being able to put the school into lockdown.
Frodingham Infant School has a long history; most of it is more than 150 years old and the walls are extremely thick. It has undergone renovations over the years and a new, modern extension added more recently. Therefore, any alert system had to be audible throughout old and new buildings.
The school considered various options ranging from megaphones to walkie talkies. Then they turned to our partner Ninehundred Communications, who provided a thorough consultation and quote. Ninehundred recommended installing Bodet Time’s class change and lockdown alert solutions.
How does the solution create a safer environment for pupils and staff?
A number of staff can activate the alerts and they can be heard throughout the school. If there is an intruder in the grounds, it helps staff bring everyone inside quickly and keep them safe.
Alongside the safety aspect, there are other benefits that will help improve future Ofsted reports. Class changeovers are smooth, classes run on time and bells are scheduled for opening, playtime and lunch. The team can use the tannoy to find a member of staff anywhere in the school complex.
It has even improved staff morale! The ‘Friday song’ plays over the speakers when the children have left, bringing a sense of fun to the day.
