School Lockdown: Incident in Almondbury School

Lockdown School Alert

Shots fired at King James’s School resulting in lockdown

Shots, possibly from a pellet gun, were fired at the school this week, causing it to go into lockdown.

Pupils at the school were told to get under their desks, and classroom lights were switched off. Parents were informed of the lockdown situation by text message, which said that there was no need for concern, but that classrooms had been locked down as a safety precaution.

Police attended the school and spent an hour looking for someone possibly armed with an air gun, after a pellet was fired from a nearby road at an upstairs office window. The incident is now being investigated as criminal damage.

The school followed guidance on their lockdown procedures from Kirklees Council, and the lockdown was lifted once the police had deemed the site safe.

Remember when considering a Lockdown Alert System for your school that current government advice on lockdown recommends using a system separate to a fire alarm. Ensuring clear and instant communication across your entire school premises increases safety for both pupils and staff.

If you would like a free site survey to see how our Lockdown Alert System can broadcast a unique lockdown alert over your whole school, please contact us.
